Fuime

Frequently asked questions

What is Fuime?

Fuime is a financial home for businesses run by teenagers. It keeps your books, stores your receipts, tracks what you might owe at tax time, and keeps a parent or guardian in the loop — because under 18 you cannot open a business bank account or sign a contract on your own.

Does real money move through Fuime right now?

No. Fuime is in a pre-launch beta and everything runs against Stripe's test mode. Payment forms and cards work end to end so you can see how the product behaves, but no real money moves and a real card will not be charged. We will say so clearly, here and in the product, before that changes.

Who can use Fuime?

Anyone 13 or older. If you are under 18 you need a parent or legal guardian on your account before you can run a business. We do not accept anyone under 13, and we ask for a date of birth at signup to enforce that.

Why do I need a parent on the account?

Because a minor cannot legally sign the agreements a business needs. Your parent or guardian is the adult who takes legal responsibility, which is what makes the whole thing work. They accept the Guardian Agreement, and until they do, you cannot create a business.

What can my parent see?

Everything about the businesses they sign for: transactions, balances, receipts, and who is on your team. This is not optional and you cannot turn it off. It is the deal that lets a teenager run a real business.

Can my parent change their mind?

Yes, at any time. If they withdraw consent you can no longer operate a business on Fuime. Your records are not deleted automatically — see the Privacy Policy.

What does the tax tracker actually do?

It watches your ledger and estimates whether you are approaching the IRS threshold where self-employment tax starts to apply. It is an estimate built from the records you enter — not a tax return, and not advice. Show it to an accountant before you rely on it. Tax rules also vary by state, and Fuime does not model that.

What does Fuime cost?

Fuime keeps 4% of each payment processed for your business, shown as its own line on your ledger so you can always see it. There is no monthly fee. During the beta no real payments are processed, so nothing is charged.

Is Fuime a bank?

No. Fuime is software for keeping records. It is not a bank, it does not hold deposits, and money tracked in Fuime is not FDIC-insured. See our Terms of Service.

What happens when I turn 18?

The guardian requirement stops applying to you, and you can export your records to take to your own LLC or accountant. Ask us at support@fuime.com and we will get you an export.

How do I get my data out, or delete it?

Email support@fuime.com. Export and deletion are not self-serve in the product yet, so we do them by hand. We do not charge for either. A parent can make the request too.

Something is broken. Who do I tell?

support@fuime.com for anything at all. For security vulnerabilities specifically, see our security page.

Is Fuime open source?

Yes. Fuime is a fork of HCB by Hack Club — the platform that has handled fiscal sponsorship for teen nonprofits since 2018 — and is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. The source is at https://github.com/agathonapp/fuime.
