These are beta terms
Fuime is in a pre-launch beta. Payments and cards run against Stripe's test mode, which means no real money moves through Fuime. These terms describe that beta. Before Fuime handles real money they will be replaced by terms reviewed by a lawyer, and you will be asked to accept the new ones.
1. What Fuime is
Fuime is software for keeping the books of a small business run by someone aged 13 to 17, with a parent or legal guardian on the account. It records income and expenses, stores receipts, and produces summaries that help at tax time.
2. What Fuime is not
This matters more than anything else on this page.
- Fuime is not a bank and does not hold deposits. It is not a credit union, and money recorded in Fuime is not insured by the FDIC or anyone else.
- Fuime is not a fiscal sponsor. It does not take legal ownership of your business or its money.
- Fuime does not give tax, legal, or financial advice. The tax figures Fuime shows are estimates generated from the records you enter. They are not a tax return, not a determination of what you owe, and not a substitute for a professional. Check them with an accountant before relying on them.
- During the beta, Fuime does not move real money. Anything that looks like a payment or a card is running in test mode.
3. Who may use Fuime
- You must be at least 13 years old. There are no exceptions.
- If you are under 18, you must have an active guardian on your account before you can create or run a business. A parent or legal guardian accepts the Guardian Agreement and takes legal responsibility for your use of Fuime.
- If you are 18 or over, you may use Fuime on your own behalf.
- You must give us accurate information, including your real date of birth. Accounts built on false information can be closed.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@fuime.com if you think someone else has access to it. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication.
5. Your business and your records
Your business is yours. Fuime does not own it, does not take a stake in it, and does not control it. The records you put into Fuime are yours too, and you can ask for a copy at any time.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and for meeting the legal obligations of running a business, including tax filings and any licences your local authority requires.
6. Fees
When Fuime processes a payment for a business, it keeps 4% of that payment as a platform fee, shown as a separate line on the ledger. During the beta no real payments are processed, so no real fees are charged. If we change the fee, we will tell you before it applies to you.
7. What you may not do
- Break the law, or use Fuime to help someone else break the law.
- Use Fuime for anything on Stripe's restricted businesses list.
- Misrepresent who you are, how old you are, or who your guardian is.
- Invite someone who is not your parent or legal guardian to act as your guardian.
- Attack, overload, or try to break into Fuime. If you want to report a vulnerability, see our security page — we would genuinely like to hear from you.
8. A guardian can end this at any time
A parent or guardian may withdraw consent whenever they choose. When they do, the teen can no longer operate a business on Fuime. Records are kept according to our Privacy Policy.
9. We can end it too
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we believe someone is at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to get your records out first.
10. No warranty
Fuime is provided “as is”. This is beta software. It may have bugs, it may be unavailable, and it may get something wrong. We do not promise it is error-free or that it will always be running.
11. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, Fuime is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We will update the date at the top when these change. For a material change we will email you, and where the law requires it we will ask you to accept the new terms.
13. Open source
Fuime is a fork of HCB by Hack Club, and is licensed under the AGPL-3.0. The source code of the version you are using is at https://github.com/agathonapp/fuime.
